Age UK is the UK's largest charity working with older people. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to make the most of later life, whatever their circumstances.
Age UK has over seven million interactions with older people every year. Through One Digital we’re embedding digital champions into our work – integrated into front-line health and wellbeing services, working with volunteers with an interest in helping people, older people themselves, and members of our partner organisations, from banks and supermarkets to rambling clubs. This means we can reach older people in their local communities, to engage, up-skill, and support them to develop digital skills.
We don’t teach digital skills in isolation – we give people the right skills to manage their own wellbeing, and show them how digital skills can improve their lives and their experience of their community. We put the older person at the heart of every interaction, and ensure all support is tailored around their needs and wishes.
We use our national reach to identify areas with high digital exclusion, and our local knowledge to support those most in need. In this current phase of the partnership, we are working with multiple partners across specific regions, starting in the north west of England, to transform digital skills delivery for older people in the areas that most need it.
If you are interested in signing someone up to learn basic digital skills, or would like to become a digital champion to support others to develop the skills and confidence to get online, please visit our website to find your nearest local Age UK and enquire about their digital support services.
